A tree falls in a forest

ripples the forest air

"There is no 'out there' out there"

--- John Wheeler

though one Blackbird

among twenty snowy mountains

should suffice to hear.

-------

We doze

the mind slopes

to darkness

(no one there to judge creation

or defend it

no face to lose

face)

yet

"We cannot bid the ear be still"

--- Wordsworth

and so awake

to the spontaneous cry

and the epiphany of what is.
