Son of Man

"Upright man seeks his divinity by inflicting pain."

--- Derek Wolcott

Conjured from a dark sea

I offer my dry breath.

Call me life. Call me death.

I walked upon land in search of blood:

(blood is the current of my brood).

A keen assassin exchanging cruelty for pride,

scavenging my own irrelevance; armies swarming; vast circuits

of cacophony and ubiquitous violence:

an alien Word attached to a dumb mystery:

maladapted, imprisoned

and alone

in my domain of codes,

consoled by starlight's

fictive constellations

in the twilight.
