An Airplane Over a Forest

Over the lovely Catholic Church

over the unknown Superiors

over the calm evening

over the horizon of an ancient society

searching the sky for signs from God.

The coincidence was disturbing.

Why those passengers and not others?

A page from a diary found in a meadow.

I sink to my knees.

Forgive us

for we do not know.

A floating nest of reeds on a pond

under a stone bridge

in a garden.

A natural rock-face with running water

close at hand, feeling its way

particularly in autumn

through the perfect chaos

of one's heart.

Why ask?

Beggars!

Get out of here!
